What is a “stay” and what does it mean to have a “stay pending appeal” in my Florida Family Law Appeal?

A “stay” is the term used to describe an order that prevents all or part of a divorce court judge’s decision from becoming effective until an appellate court has ruled on whether the decision is valid in your Florida Family Law Appeal.  In other words, if a stay is granted, the litigants will not have to comply with all or part of the divorce court judge’s decision until the appellate court case is over.
