File Cross Appeal

What is the deadline to file a cross appeal in a Florida divorce or child custody case?

The deadline to cross appeal is the later of the deadline to file an appeal or ten days after the other party’s timely notice of appeal.  As a practical matter, the deadline to appeal a divorce or child custody order can be extended if one party files and appeal near the end of the thirty day deadline.  As an example, if the wife appeals a divorce order on the thirtieth day after the order is rendered, the husband would have until the fortieth day to file a cross appeal.
